History
Founded in 2010, Chewbacchus celebrates science fiction and fantasy fandom with handmade costumes and contraptions, rolling on foot through the Marigny and Bywater. Throws are hand-built rather than bought - a reaction to mass-produced plastic. Its motto: "Saving the galaxy one drunken nerd at a time."
Where to watch
The walking-krewe corridor just below the Quarter, where the satirical Krewe du Vieux and the sci-fi Chewbacchus roll on foot. Smaller, rowdier, and more local than the St. Charles spectacle.
