History
Founded in 1987, Krewe du Vieux is one of the very few parades still permitted to roll through the French Quarter - kept small with mule- and human-drawn floats, exactly as Carnival once was. Its satire is pointed and profane, and it is emphatically adults-only. Members organize into themed sub-krewes.
Where to watch
The walking-krewe corridor just below the Quarter, where the satirical Krewe du Vieux and the sci-fi Chewbacchus roll on foot. Smaller, rowdier, and more local than the St. Charles spectacle.
